Art and Tea (🇬🇧)
Chinese calligraphy of the character for Tea (茶)
Celebrating 20 Years in China
Looking back on my nearly 20 years in China, one thing stands out the most—the beauty of simplicity. I see it in the art, in the black-and-white brushstrokes of calligraphy and the clean lines of ink paintings. I encounter it in the food, in the clear soups and the gently steamed dumplings. But above all, I have experienced this simple beauty in the countless moments when a cup of tea has been served—a natural and warm gesture when visiting someone.
Nothing captures simplicity better for me than a steaming cup of tea. It is a moment of stillness, a ritual that brings peace, and a bridge that connects people. This year, to celebrate two decades in this remarkable country, I want to share a small part of my daily life with you.
Why Share Tea? Tea, like art, has the power to bring people together. In the simplicity of its rituals, we often uncover profound connections—a shared pot of tea can transcend languages, bridge cultures, and dissolve differences. Through this offering, I hope to create a space for stillness and meaningful connection. Just as my sculptures delve into the essence of being and seek to uncover what unites us, tea serves as a timeless symbol of harmony and shared humanity.

A Personal Connection Each tea in this collection holds something personal for me. The bold black tea represents the energy and focus of my early mornings with the Beijing sunrise. The vibrant green tea brings energy and clarity after lunch, often enjoyed at a local dumpling restaurant. And the complex oolong, with its layered flavors, embodies the spirit of leisure and discovery as I sit to create my art. Together, these teas tell the story of my life and experiences here.
From the Source Our teas are carefully sourced from small, family-owned farms in some of China’s most renowned tea-growing regions. The green and black tea come from Wuyuan’s “Golden Triangle,” where the mist-covered mountains create the perfect environment for producing exceptional leaves. The oolong is harvested from the Wuyi Mountains, famous for its roasted teas and mineral-rich flavors.
